A few days ago I found myself walking down past a Little Chef.. Remembering they sometimes have little shops in the front of some of their restaurants (selling maps, drinks, crisps..) and suddenly realising how hungry and thirsty I was. So I figured I would pop in and grab a bottle of coke and a mars bar, thinking that at most it would cost me a pound fifty.

How wrong could I be. The coke alone (we are talking about a normal sized bottle here) was £1.40. One pound forty?? Back in the day you could have bought a house for that.

On top of that there was the Mars bar. The normal sized one cost about 80p. By the time I realized I didnt have £2.20 on me The guy at the till had already run it though and was waiting me to pay.

I had to do the walk of shame and put it back because I didn’t have the cash on me. I died a little inside that day.

On a slightly lighter note, their all day breakfasts are pretty much the best in the country (Although I admit that I havn’t tried every single one.. Yet). I don’t know what they put in their sausages but i’m pretty sure I could eat them all day.

So as a Little Chef summary:

  • All day breakfasts: Good.
  • Coke and a Mars Bar from the shop for £2.20: Bad.

Upon entering this particular pub, The Yacht, it had a welcoming atmosphere, however, for a Tuesday evening it was very busy and with only one person serving behind the bar it took ages to get served.

The eating area was half full but the majority Continue reading…
