British Firework Display Championships

I had the opportunity to go to the 13th annual British firework display championships about a month ago. It was a bit of a long way to get down to Plymouth, but once there I was treated to some of the most beautiful fireworks displays I have ever seen.

They were all choreographed to music and beautifully timed and executed. I’m no expert at Fireworks displays but I was very impressed with the way all the displays were run.

The winners were deserving, with a massive wide display that lit up the sky with amazing colours. There were even opportunities to buy fireworks yourselves.

I’m guessing the conditions where a little windy for fireworks through, with a lot of the displays curving off to one side rather than being perfectly symmetrical, but that is hardly anyone’s fault.

I will definitely be going next year, but will be a lot more prepared this time. I’ll find a better spot with a view over the bay, bring some beers and make a full weekend of it. After all, it made the ones I’d seen before seem a little pathetic; a couple of Catherine wheels and a rocket or 2 in the back garden really seem a little underwhelming now.
