TV 21 in Manchester’s Northern Quarter is a great bar to start off a night.. I love the theme and the giant, life sized alien model in the corner of the bar. It’s funny how much little additions like this can really make a place stand out.
The playlist seems to get a little repetative, I’m not sure if the DJ used to be in the Smiths or he is just the worlds biggest fan, but a bit more variety could not go amiss.
It’s a bit more upper class than Trof, which is not necessarily a good thing, but it’s still a fantastic place to start a good night out.

Mojo’s is a tiny little bar in Manchester, which, if you can find it in the back streets is well worth a visit on a Friday night.
It can get pretty packed on Friday and Saturday nights, but it’s got a great play list and a quirky atmosphere.
Like I said it’s pretty small, there’s a table upstairs that doubles up as a dance floor when things start getting really packed.
Special mention goes to Modello, one of the beers that Mojo’s sell. It’s from the same people that make Corona, but don’t let that fool you.. its pretty good stuff.

I have been eating out a few time in recent weeks, I got in the quite nasty habit of going to the Hard Rock Cafe in Manchester.
Sure the food is good, music is mostly OK, but the prices seem to be at least 30% over what I would consider reasonable.
There’s no way on earth I should be asked to pay £9.00 for some crappy burger.. The full rack of ribs is even worse at almost £15.00. Granted the steak is pretty good, but the rest is pretty simple stuff, chips, corn on the cob.. not that there’s anything wrong with that, its just that it shouldn’t cost that much.

There’s a small bar in the Northern Quarter in Manchester Called Trof, I’m not sure if anyone has been out there on a Monday night, they have an open mic night there and I have been continually pleasantly surprised by the standard of performed they get to come.
For those that haven’t been, I would recommend it. Drinks are expensive, but the atmosphere on the top floor, with the open mic, the acoustic guitars, and the way everyone sits quietly and just listens to the music is unlike anywhere else I have been.
We sat through one act that played MGMT’s Kids using a crappy Casio pocket keyboard from the 80s. Sounds strange, but it was fantastic!
