Rock City, Nottingham & Tantra, Nottingham

Went to Nottingham this weekend, bit of a heavy drinking weekend. It turned out to be a fairly decent place.

We went into a bar called Tantra for a couple of drinks. It’s by far and away the most pervy place I have ever been outside of a strip club. The Girls in there may as well have been wearing nothing at all. The walls are all lined with beds, it’s blatantly obvious this place does everything it can to encourage any sort of seedy behavior in the darker corners.

We eventually got out of there and into Rock City, It’s a pretty standard rock club (a pretty big one). It’s so similar to the Carling academy in Birmingham, I could have been in either and I wouldn’t have known.

Brewer Launches Record Breaking 41% Beer

A Scottish brewer has just launched a line of beer called “sink the Bismark” that is a whopping 41% alcohol. This (rather lethal) beer is meant to be enjoyed “responsibly” and costing £40 I can’t imagine it becoming a serious problem.

The tongue-in-cheek brewer “BrewDog” has previously been branded as irresponsible for brewing an 18% beer. In response to claims they were irresponsable, the brewer then released a non-alcoholic beer called “nanny state”.

“It is important that you be careful with this beer and show it the same amount of sceptical, tentative respect you would show an international chess superstar, clown or gypsy.”

A month of music Gigs

So this month I’ve managed to book tickets to about 5-10 different music gigs in and around Manchester. I’m really in to my live music at the moment so I’ll try and keep you all updated on a review of the selection of bands I’m seeing.
Frank Turner: My current favorite artist. I’ll be seeing him tonight at the manchester Academy. I’ve seen him before and he was quite fantastic.

Stereophonics: I went and saw these here in Manchester last week. I think they are currently among the best stadium bands around at the moment. Kelly Jone’s voice sounds just fantastic live.

John Butler Trio: Awesome Guitar and solo work. Can’t wait for these.

I’ll also be seeing Laura Marling, King Blues and the Black Keys in the coming few weeks. I’ll keep you posted.
